What I pack in my carry on - the essentials.
In all honesty, economy travel isn’t great – flying with a full-service airline certainly helps but in general it’s uncomfortable, and I don’t love it (we’re currently manifesting business class travel). Anyway, this is what I always pack in my carry on to make the economy travel a little more barrable.
1) A change of clothes – its amazing how good a change of fresh clothes can make you feel (plus, if they misplace your luggage, you spill something or get spewed on you’re sorted).
2) Flight socks – I’ve finally started wearing these. My hands and feet have swollen for years, but flight socks reminded me of something my grandma would wear, so I just put up with swollen limbs – vain I know. The time before last I had swollen legs for days so this time I caved, and I’ll never travel without them ever again.
3) A beautiful hand sanitizer, Aesop and Thankyou brands both smell great.
4) A hydrating lip balm, face mask, and water bottle. If the water bottle is full and in front of me, I’ll drink it. I try only to have one alcoholic beverage now too. All in the hope of staying hydrated.
5) Nice coffee or herbal tea – I am yet to fly on an airline that serves good coffee or tea, so I pack my own. It’s the little things that make all of the difference.
6) A pen – once upon a time I was a sales rep, and my boss always said to me ‘a good sales rep always carries a pen’ it’s stuck with me. I carry one everywhere. Nothing worse than having to wait in line to fill out your customs/visa forms and you can see out the corner of your eye the arrivals cue getting longer and longer (cue anxiety and heart palpitations).
So there’s an insight into what I pack...
There is definitely more antibacterial wipes (coz tray tables 🤢), toiletries, snacks, essential medication...but I had to keep the flat lay beautiful and not overcrowded. 🙊
